DARTS 3
The 3rd DARTS hackathon took place from 2-6th December 2024. The hackathon focussed on the L1 scouting system, including users of the Run 3 system to the development of the Phase 2 system. Taking place at CERN’s Idea Square, the event was a time to push on many fronts of the novel system that aims to make possible physics analysis on the full 40 MHz LHC collision rate. My team explored what’s possible with jet tagging in the Phase 2 L1 scouting system.
Without the latency constraint of the Level 1 Trigger system, we could investigate alternative jet clustering and tagging algorithms than what we consider for the L1T. We studied physics performance of different approaches, as well as accelerated implementations of the algorithms.
